Devon on Danks

Being of Asian decent, the Eastern cuisine was one which I truly believed I had explored and conquered. However just the other day I stumbled across quite an interesting photo posted by one of my favourite food bloggers of something I had never seen before and if you perchance have encountered this photo you too may have given it  a second glance.

Behold the Golden Egg - Taro scotch egg atop a nest of fried noodles served with Asian mushrooms in garlic butter and WA black truffles.   $33-

Being completely honest with you I could not possibly imagine what such a dish might taste like purely based upon the visual clues. The Asian fusion flavour combination boasts a contemporary take upon what I believe is traditionally a yum cha dish of deep fried crispy taro dumpling 'wu gok'. The taro scotch egg certainly bears remarkable similarities in taste and presentation while truffles and mushrooms in garlic butter were subtle yet could only be truly describes as 'melt in your mouth'. The fried ramen was nice crispy but easier to eat once softened by the garlic butter. While this dish was one of their pricier menu items, if you're after something inventive and interesting definitely give this one a try!
